About Us

Welcome to Salusbury WORLD!

We work with refugee and migrant families helping children, young people and parents to realise their rights and potential.

We’re the only school-based refugee charity in the UK so we are uniquely placed to work with whole families.

Our work is effective because our services are joined up to provide integrated educational, social and practical support.

Asylum from conflict and persecution is a universal human right. So are education, family life, adequate living standards and social participation. All children have rights to play and recreation, as well as the active promotion of their full growth and development.

We envisage a future in which schools and communities across the UK work together to protect, fulfil and foster respect for these rights, ensuring that all migrants are welcomed wholeheartedly and empowered to settle, thrive and participate in all areas of society.

Our mission is to support and empower refugee and migrant children, young people and families to overcome obstacles, realise their rights and potential and participate fully in society.

We promote and encourage the development of human capabilities.

We listen to people, help solve problems and encourage success.

We give people tools to claim their rights and to support themselves, their families and their communities.

We work with the whole person and the whole family.

Our services are joined up to promote community cohesion and development.

We promote socially and ecologically sustainable livelihoods and communities.

We have plans to spread our knowledge and impact as widely as possible through other schools and communities across the UK.

Salusbury WORLD was founded in 1999 in response to high numbers of newly-arrived families from Kosovo and Albania who were being housed and schooled in Brent. Funded by a lottery grant, the aim was to provide vital extra support for these families, many of whom had experienced trauma, long journeys to the UK, and living in temporary accommodation.

We rely on the generosity of individuals, trusts, foundations and companies to enable our work to continue.

Current supporters include:
