Salusbury World is reaching the end of an era: we’re soon to move out of Salusbury Primary School, our partner and our generous host of the past 25 years.
Our trustees have agreed with the school’s Governing Board that we will move out by the end of October half-term, enabling the school to invest in and create new opportunities for children in the space.
Salusbury World was created in the 1990s by Salusbury Primary School as a response to the huge displacement of people from Kosovo and Albania who were being housed and schooled in Brent at that time. We are very proud of our work together and are very grateful to the school generously making space available for so long.
Our support for refugees and the way we work has evolved over time. We now work with Queens Park Community School, Capital City Academy and several other schools as well as Family Wellbeing Centres and many different organisations and agencies across northwest London, leaving our staff and volunteers less dependent on a single space to be able to carry out our work.
However, we are actively (and urgently) seeking new premises that will support our evolving work, provide a main office base and enable us to continue serving our community. We welcome talks with all our supporters and stakeholders about options.
We are already grateful to the Maqam Centre for providing a safe location to temporarily store our equipment while our search continues.
Please feel assured that, despite these changes, we will be unwavering in our commitment to our community. Salusbury World will continue its work with refugee and migrant families as usual in supporting those who rely on us to realise their rights and potential. Together, we will forge ahead, making a positive difference in the lives of children and families in our beloved community.
Thank you for your ongoing support and encouragement,
Salusbury World
