Recently, we’ve enjoyed delivering information-sharing workshops with case workers at Refugee Education UK, in Harlesden, and with keyworkers at two Brent Family Wellbeing Centre, Granville Plus in South Kilburn and Three Trees in Kensal Rise.
It’s been fantastic to share our knowledge and learn from our local partners.
Our first workshop focussed on the transition to e-visas and how we can best support refugees and vulnerable migrants who are affected by this change. It’s a live concern for many of the families we and our partners support.
Our two homelessness workshops explored the initial stages of homelessness, Local Authority inquiries and the different duties which a Local Authority may owe an individual. We discussed how we can most effectively support young refugees facing homelessness, knowing that secure housing can form the foundation for a stable future.
The workshops were brilliantly led by our advice worker Charlotte Wood, supported by Nicole Gojkovic. Many thanks to the 47 keyworkers and caseworkers who attended and shared their own experiences, cases, thoughts and fascinating questions.
Our Advice Project is open to referrals to support asylum seekers and refugees with issues surrounding homelessness and immigration. The deadline to apply for an e-visa is 1st June 2025 🗓️
